Define Watches To Hold Watch Auction For Queensland Flood Appeal
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple of months you would undoubtedly be aware of the mass devastation caused in the state of Queensland, Australia by severe flooding and cyclones. Xetum Launches Limited Edition Tyndall
At the start of last year we wrote about an ambitious newcomer called Xetum and their highly attractive, minimalist inspired Tyndall timepiece. We followed this initial write up with a hands-on review of the Tyndall, which you can read here. SIHH 2011: Montblanc
Of the top 10 sellers at Montblanc, nine of them are chronographs a truly staggering statistic. This would certainly account for why it is important for them to commemorate the invention of the chronograph 190 years ago. As part of this celebration they will be contributing to an exhibition in La Locle later in the year.
SIHH 2011: IWC
IWC tends to refresh one part of its range each year, this year the focus is on the Portofino. As part of their homage to the Italian town they have designed their stand in the Italianate manner and it looks great. Plus there’s gelato! The presentations are perhaps a little self indulgent and syrupy but also very entertaining and engaging, they have a smooth elegance which is of course is the trait they want you to ascribe to their watches.
SIHH 2011: Piaget
Adopting a somewhat aggressive approach to the market this year Piaget are launching over 60 different watches, with the collections centered around ultra-thin movements. Many are not really going to trouble us too much but certainly of interest is the 1270P.
SIHH 2011: Greubel Forsey
Whilst the time spent at Vacheron Constantin earlier this morning was certainly enjoyable, the late arrival of the UK press contingent had caused a slight delay to the start of the presentation and so it’s a quick dash to what I hoped would be the highlight of the day; Greubel Forsey.
