Ikepod Opens First Pop-Up Monobrand Store In Paris

Here’s something cool, designer Marc Newson’s funky watch company – Ikepod – has teamed up with watch retailer Antoine de Macedo to open up its very first pop-up, monobrand store in Paris. The temporary store, adjacent to de Macedo’s boutique and workshop on the left bank of the city, will officially open the doors to its 50 square meter space on June 19, 2011 and will remain open until 30 July, 2011.

As you can see in the photos the pop-up store will feature Ikepod’s collection of timepieces and hourglasses, the latter being a personal favorite, designed by Marc Newson as well as a special photographic exhibition put together by world famous photographer Philip Andelman chronicling the construction of an hourglass piece. You may recall also that earlier this year Andelman directed this fantastic video of the creation of a Marc Newson Hourglass for NOWNESS:
Whilst Ikepod may not be a quintessential watch-maker’s brand in the truest sense of the word, Newson’s skill and vision are simply remarkable and certainly if you are fortunate enough to find yourself in Paris during this time I would highly recommend visiting the boutique, if not just to see the fantastic photographic exhibition.
