UPDATE! TAG HEUER STANDS BY BRAND AMBASSADOR TIGER WOODS

Last week we told you about the seeming move by Tag Heuer to indefinitely drop Tiger Woods as an ambassador. However, it seems now that further clarification is available.
TAG Heuer has confirmed that it will continue its relationship with Golf n°1 Tiger Woods but will respect his desire of privacy by modifying his role in the coming months’ marketing programs.
Tiger Woods became a TAG Heuer brand ambassador in 2002. The relationship between the leader in prestigious sports watches and chronographs since 1860 and Golf virtuoso Tiger Woods has always been extremely professional and productive.
“The partnership with Tiger Woods will continue,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, President and CEO of TAG Heuer, “but we will downscale the use of his image in certain markets for a period of time, depending on his decision about returning to professional golf. We will continue to actively support the Tiger Woods Foundation.”.

Well, if nothing else, Tag is getting a great deal of press in recent weeks.
Hahaha, I couldn’t agree more Speedmaster!
I can’t help but wonder what effect this whole situation has had on the salability of the Tiger Woods branded TAG watches. Are they selling as they were? Did prices drop because Tiger was dropped? Has TAG Heuer issued the above about face, no watch pun intended, in order to keep those watches “current”. It would seem there would be less demand for a watch that’s autographed by someone with no current connection to the company. Unless that person were celebrity enough and their passing away severed the company’s connection which usually results in the value skyrocketing, especially on limited edition items. If TAG Heuer were dumping him, and pulling all the Tiger Woods endorsed stock of watches, would that cause the existing ones to increase in value? Can you tell that my only TAG is a Tiger Woods TAG?
