Ok, so you’ve done your research and sorted out your finances and now you’ve finally bought your dream watch. Only problem is what do you wear it with? Well, Richard Mille has a suggestion, how about a set of surprisingly complex, automatic cufflinks?
Tiny Technical Marvels
Made from grade 5 titanium, Mille’s cufflinks have been developed to the same exacting standards that underpin the design of his timepieces. This means innovative design, high standards of quality and an inherent element of impracticality. According to the brand two years of work went into creating and designing these tiny technical marvels, each of which consist of no fewer than 38 components.
How is that possible, you ask? Well, unlike traditional cufflinks that use a pivoting bar to hold the double cuff in place, Mille’s creation features a patented mechanism that opens the bars using a push-piece and fastens the cuff using two titanium bars. These open with a simple press of the push-piece and close by pressing on the top plate, although I have not tested them personally and so I cannot say for sure just how smooth this process is.
Much like his watches, the true value in Mille’s cufflinks is the high-quality construction and attention to detail. For example, the upper surfaces have been satin-brushed and bead-blasted before being bevelled by hand, creating an exceptional finish of the utmost elegance.
The Final Word
Available now in Richard Mille boutiques and points of sale the world over, you can choose from either the standard titanium set, or the more glamorous diamond set. I’m not sure on price but expect to pay significantly more than you ever have (or have ever dreamed of) paying for cufflinks. Of course the cost will pale in comparison to what you have already invested into your dream watch and will undoubtedly make the wearing experience all the more enjoyable, so what the heck, you only live once, right?
