Wow Watch Wednesday: The Marin 2 Thalassa (Video)
Before you say anything, we know that we already featured the all new Marin 2 from Peter Speake-Marin earlier this week, but we are absolutely besotted with this piece. And why not? This timepiece is a stunning work of art! Every single detail, every single component of the case, the dial and the movement have all been designed and crafted by the expert eye of arguably one of the best independent watchmaker’s in the world.
In our first article on the Marin 2 we told you that photos simply could not do it justice. That’s why, when we saw this excellent video created by our great friends over at Hodinkee we knew we had to share it with you immediately. It was shot yesterday in New York as part of the first leg of Peter’s world tour and gives you some insight into why we are just so taken with this timepiece.
It also features some of his other classic pieces, including the two versions of the Marin 1 which were the first to feature a Speake-Marin in-house movement (the SM2) as well as a very special Serpent Calendar that was hand engraved by master engraver Kees Engelbarts.
