Today, Beverly Hills based start-up DILUSSO officially launched its new luxury surprise box concept. That’s right, luxury surprise box. Don’t get too hung up on the name though because it’s not about the box – although I am told it is quite luxurious in its own right – but rather its contents; specifically, a hand-picked selection of luxury products and experiences, complete with your very own high-end Swiss timepiece.

The Dilusso Approach

Curated surprise boxes are nothing new. In fact they’ve been around for quite a while now and have proved remarkably popular. After all, who doesn’t like periodically receiving a box full of surprise treats ranging from skin care products to jewellery to gym gear? Generally speaking you pay a fairly nominal monthly or annual membership fee for the service and the box just appears in the mail with little to no fuss.

Until now though, no one – as far as I am aware at least – has ever offered a luxury surprise box option, at least nothing of the sort of magnitude that the guys at Dilusso have put together. Founded by three successful entrepreneurs – Paul Chakour, Khalil Ghorbani, and Don Kinney (pictured below in that order) – who all share a personal passion for luxury and unsurpassed customer service, the underlying goal is to bring together the most exclusive luxury brands, iconic influencers and exhilarating experiences from all across the world and offer them all together as one luxurious package. Suffice to say that with a starting price of $15k USD, this is not your typical cardboard box of no-name brands or samples.

Anchoring every Dilusso luxury surprise box will be a high-end Swiss watch from either a major brand like Rolex or Hublot, or a more understated boutique brand like De Bethune or MCT Watches. But of course that’s not all. You’ll also find goodies in your box from the likes of Roland Iten, Anil Arjandas, Edelberg, and Marcus B. Williams, among many others.

Additionally, thanks to an exclusive partnership Dilusso has entered into with Les Concierges, a global provider of concierge services, each surprise box also features curated experiences such as fine dining, entertainment, and access to ultra-exclusive, private events and parties. Most importantly though, Dilusso guarantees that everything in your box is brand new and either comes from an authorized retailer or directly from the brand itself. No grey market products here thank you very much. That being said, they may on occasion source a pre-owned or vintage collectible as part of your surprise box, in which case they would let you know.

So how does it work? Well essentially you go on to the Dilusso site and pick one of their expert influencers or personalities from social media, entertainment, sport and lifestyle to curate your surprise box. Currently there are two curators you can choose from – PaneraiCentral and WhatUsMenLike, both social media influencers – and the company has plans to add more in the near future. You tell them your preferences, they add their own personal style and then you sit back and relax while they source the products they think you’ll enjoy most for your box.

According to Dilusso each customized box is made from solid mahogany and will be individually numbered just to make the recipient feel that little bit more exclusive. They offer worldwide delivery and so international shipping and insurance is included with all packages. Of course if you happen to live in North America, your luxury surprise box will be personally hand-delivered to your door. Now how’s that for service?

It remains to be seen whether the concept will take off but I applaud the team at Dilusso for trying something – pardon the pun – out-of-the-box.
