Pre-Basel World 2011: Marc Jenni JJJ
We first came across the up-and-coming, young watch-maker Marc Jenni last year when he presented his remarkable new timepiece, the Prologue, at Basel World 2010. An ACHI Candidate, the Prologue was Jenni’s inaugural timepiece under his own name as an independent watch-maker and featured the world’s first lateral winding mechanism.
Wow Watch Wednesday: Ateliers deMonaco Quantieme Perpetual – QP-EZ
In a recent article for World Tempus, highly respected international watch writer Beth Doerr (read our interview with her here) suggested that the tourbillon’s time in the spotlight may have come to an end and consequently the focus must shift to the further enhancement of other complications, such as the Perpetual Calendar. We couldn’t agree more and it seems we’re not the only ones, as evidenced by the new Quantieme Perpetual – QP-EZ from Ateliers deMonaco which will be on show at this year’s Basel World.
Things You Didn’t Even Know That You Didn’t Know!
The best kept secrets are the ones you’ve never even heard about. The ones that concern information that you didn’t even know that you didn’t know! Some industries are aware of this and use it to their advantage, but the watchmaking industry has taken this concept to the next level, establishing it almost as a golden rule. Xetum Launches Limited Edition Tyndall
At the start of last year we wrote about an ambitious newcomer called Xetum and their highly attractive, minimalist inspired Tyndall timepiece. Building on this success Xetum has recently announced the release of their very first limited edition timepiece, the aptly named Tyndall Limited Edition.

This year the brand has even bigger plans for Basel with the announcement that the very first automatic winding Golden Bridge movement…
The Great Return of Bespoke Watches?
Centuries ago the creativity of manufacturers was limited only by their technical capabilities. And, much like those of their clients, their ideas and ambitions, although not always feasible, were truly spectacular. It was during this time when the concepts of ‘series’ or ‘collections’ were still yet to be born, right up until the beginning of the 20th century, that the very lifeblood of the industry was the realization of custom made pieces commissioned by wealthy clients.

Wow Watch Wednesday: Rebellion REB-5 Tourbillon
One of the standouts from the recent Geneva Time Exhibition was Rebellion Timepieces and in particular one of their latest creations, the uber sexy REB-5 Tourbillon. It looks great, has a sufficient level of technical complexity to attract the well-trained eyes of connoisseurs and, according to the brand, authoritatively stamps Rebellion’s mark on…

SIHH 2011: Montblanc
Of the top 10 sellers at Montblanc, nine of them are chronographs a truly staggering statistic. This would certainly account for why it is important for them to commemorate the invention of the chronograph 190 years ago. As part of this celebration they will be contributing to an exhibition in La Locle later in the year.
