Luxury watchmaker Christophe Claret is unveiling its first ever ladies watch and predictably it looks amazing: introducing the Christophe Claret Margot.

Christophe Claret Margot

Not many details have been released about the new Margot timepiece as yet.  Based on what I can see in the video below though it features a unique, somewhat whimsical complication. In the center of the dial is a gorgeous flower, with 12 beautifully crafted petals. This is framed beautifully by diamond baguette-set bezel. No complaints about that.

Looking just below the flower you will notice two windows on either side of 6 o’clock. The one on the left shows a phrase in French that translates to “he loves me”, whilst the one on the right shows various adverbs in French indicating just how he loves me, for example ‘passionately’, or the slightly less desirable ‘not at all’. Are you beginning to get the idea now?

That’s right, the romantic complication of the new Margot timepiece is based on the age-old game of “he loves me, he loves me not”, whereby you tear the petals of a flower to determine if your lover truly loves you back.

With the new Margot timepiece however Christophe Claret does all the work for you (well most of it, anyway.) Have a look at this video to see how it all works:

Pretty incredible, right, not to mention just a touch romantic! Based on the video it looks like you use the pusher at 2 o’clock to make the petals disappear and the text change in the little window. Each time you press it the watch also chimes, a signature of all Christophe Claret timepieces. You can even see the little hammer responsible for the sound through a window on the side of the case. Once you have exhausted your supply of petals you simply press the second pusher at 4 o’clock to instantly restart the entire process.

Unfortunately I don’t have any details on the dimensions of the case or what it’s made of, although if I had to guess I would say platinum or possibly white gold. My only reservation from the video is that it looks like the Margot timepiece could sit a little high on my slender wrists but I will have to wait until Baselworld next week to say so for sure.

Stay tuned for live pictures and pricing coming in the next week or so!
