Summer is upon us and that means it’s time to throw a little color into the mix. To help get you started we’ve pulled together 3 watches that will help brighten up any outfit.
URWERK UR-105TA Black Lemon
First up on the list is the URWERK UR-105TA Black Lemon, a brightly colored variation of the original UR-105M the independent brand launched back in 2014. That model was called the Dark Knight and had the mysterious, brooding personality to match. This of course is all well and good for a man of the battlefield but perhaps just a little sombre for us weekend warriors looking to break out of the grey zone for a bit.
Fortunately, the Black Lemon – as its name suggests – injects a zesty dash of color into the mix, contrasting nicely with the titanium case and distinctive black coated, shield-shaped steel bezel that has become a hallmark of the UR-105 collection. The other big change of course from the original UR-105M is the fact that the UR-105 TA contains an automatic winding movement (referred to as URWERK’s “Turbine Automatic” system). This is perfect for those lazy summer days when you don’t feel like stopping to wind your watch, you just want to throw it on and go out and have some fun.

Hautlence HLRQ 04
Next up on our list of summer watches is the HLRQ04 from Hautlence. Like the UR-105TA Black Lemon above the HLRQ 04 combines high-end mechanical watchmaking with colorful aesthetics to create something that is both complex and playful all at the same time. Powered by the HLQ in-house calibre the watch features jumping hours, retrograde minutes and a fast date corrector housed within a very wearable 44mm case made from a combination of black DLC-coated titanium and steel.
To really give it that summer look though the stainless steel horns have been treated with a striking blue varnish that matches beautifully with the blue highlights on the dial. The manually wound movement offers a 40 hour power reserve and has been nicely decorated with hand-chamfered bridges and the Côtes de Genève motif.

Linde Werdelin Spidospeed Titanium
Last on our short list is the new Linde Werdelin Spidospeed Titanium. Although not quite as colorful perhaps as our other two entrants, it’s the undeniable fresh-faced feel of the Spidospeed Titanium that has caught our attention. Stripped back to the bare essentials this watch is pretty much up for anything, which is exactly what summer should be all about; meeting new friends, trying new things and having a bit of adventure.
Presented in a distinctive, multi-layered 44mm case constructed from titanium, the Spidospeed Titanium is superlight on the wrist and just about indestructible. The automatic LW06 movement has been skeletonised and customised by Linde Werdelin and offers full chronograph functionality – perfect for timing events in the beach Olympics you plan every year with your friends. The dial meanwhile has an almost industrial feel to it, with all superfluous details removed in the quest to create that raw, stripped-back aesthetic. And yet somehow it wouldn’t look out of place if you wore out to dinner at your favorite summer hangout.
