There are depressingly few artisans left in the world today that can do to a watch movement what the incredible guys at Grieb & Benzinger do, and the Grey Tulip Diamond watch is a perfect example of that.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to experience that incredible handiwork for myself, when I spent some time hands on with the Grieb & Benzinger Grey Tulip Diamond, part of the ultra stylish Shades of Grey Collection. As you will see in the photos the wrist wearing this piece belong to a female model (and a very pretty one at that) but a man could just as easily wear the watch, especially for more formal occasions.

The Grey Tulip Diamond

Grieb & Benzinger Grey Tulip DiamondI would be lying if I said that the Grey Tulip Diamond wasn’t absolutely eye-catching on the wrist. Of course this is in part attributable to the fact that the bezel and lugs have been expertly set with 77 of the finest Top Wesselton brilliant-cut diamonds, lending it a look that is quite extraordinary even from a distance. But when you get close up your attention is instantly consumed with the exquisite detail of the fully skeletonized, guilloche and hand-engraved movement.

Even a novice watch enthusiast can appreciate the incredible level of detail and painstaking work that must have gone into the finished product. Specific techniques become irrelevant; this is simply a work of art for the wrist. Presented in a 43mm solid 18k palladium-white gold case, the watch is the perfect size for admiring and sits surprisingly nicely on the wrist, even on the more slender one of our female model. There is certainly some weight to it due to the metal used but it is not overbearing.

The Final Word

It’s no secret, Grieb & Benzinger do incredible things with timepieces and the Grey Tulip Diamond is just one exceptional example. You owe it to yourself to take a closer look at this highly creative, niche brand, especially if you’ve ever thought about getting a custom timepiece made. Or if you just want to stand out from the crowd with something truly breathtaking on your wrist.
