As humans, the desire to protect ourselves is an innate quality. We protect ourselves from the rain with the finest umbrellas, we protect our feet with the latest and greatest shoes, we protect our eyes with flashy sunglasses, and we even protect our mobile phones with extravagant and expensive cases…but what about our hands? These invaluable appendages of ours are often overworked, under cared for, and endure an incredible amount of day-to-day stress and travail. The elements in particular, can be quite cruel to our hands, especially during the colder months. It’s time to give our hands the respect they deserve, and nobody does a better job of this than Italian glove manufacturer, Merola.

Merola Gloves Italy

Merola is a family run glove manufacturer that first began operations in Naples, Italy, before later relocating to Rome. The family has a rich and extensive background in making beautiful, hand-cut gloves, from the finest material,s including Peccary, Carpincho, and Cashmere. Merola gloves have been sought after for generations, as attested to by the list of high profile clientele.

The company was originally founded in 1885, by Italian-born Nicola Merola who, with the help of his two brothers, Leopoldo and Giuseppe, began manufacturing in Naples. The business was quite successful, until the Second World War made leathers inaccessible. The onset of the War, combined with the lack of clientele, forced Merola to shut down its operations.

After the War, Alberto Merola, along with his two children, Stefano and Claudia, brought international fame to the brand by making the most of the booming Hollywood cinema scene. Alberto managed to revive the Merola brand completely by partnering with Hollywood production companies, with his soon-to-be highly-sought after gloves making multiple appearances on the big screen. Merola became the glove supplier for a number of major productions, which in turn caught the eyes of countless Hollywood actors and actresses, and the rest is history.

Today, Merola produces some of the finest gloves on the market, such as these beautiful Mink Carpincho’s that I’m wearing. The brand is firmly recognised throughout the world for their craftsmanship. Production now runs out of Campania, Italy and the brand continues to enjoy an exceptional reputation for ‘Italian Made’ quality.

I can’t think of a better way to give our hands a bit more love than by picking up a pair of beautiful Merola gloves. For more information, please visit the website at www.merolagloves.it
