MB&F has gone and done the impossible yet again, somehow finding a way to crank up the already extremely high ‘wow’ factor of the HM6 Space Pirate. Proving beyond a doubt that the brand is absolutely deserving of its inaugural place at SIHH 2016, it has unveiled the new Space Pirate SV (short for Sapphire Vision) revealing the inner workings of the HM6 in all their breath-taking glory.
There are very few established watch brands that still have the ability to really wow us year in and year out. A. Lange & Söhne is most definitely one of them and if you needed any convincing of that fact than look no further than the exceptional Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon unveiled at SIHH 2016 earlier today.
Last year a small Austrian watchmaker by the name of Habring² celebrated its 10th Anniversary with the launch of a simple looking watch called Felix. At the time I remembered thinking ‘ten years is a pretty significant milestone, surely they want something a little more flashy to mark the occasion?’ The thing is, the husband and wife founders of Habring² don’t really do ‘flashy’. Instead, they prefer something a little more substantive. How refreshing is that?
Earlier this year Zenith unveiled the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations. A limited edition of 150-pieces in rose gold, the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot was a technical masterpiece for Zenith. There was just one problem – it kind of looked like something you’re grandfather would wear. Despair not though, as just last month the brand debuted a decidedly more modern looking version of the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot in a titanium case.
Richard Mille caught us a little off-guard last week with the unveiling of the new RM 67-01 Automatic Extra Flat. We had heard murmurings of course that there was an extra flat watch coming from the uber luxury watchmaker but to be honest we didn’t expect it to be so, well, flat. At first blush though it seems like Mr. Mille has another hit on his hands although we’ll have to wait until SIHH next year when the watch is officially launched.
